JOE E. FAIRCHILD was born on April 29, 1931, and went to be with the Lord on August 2, 2015, at the age of 84.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Jefferson and Arthena Hawkins Fairchild, and 2 brothers, Johnny Ralph Fairchild and Hugh Franklin Fairchild.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Dorcas Sexton Fairchild; 3 sisters, Mildred Wattenbarger, Beatrice Winstead and Genevieve Stapleton; 2 brothers, Lowell Fairchild and Arnold Fairchild; and several nieces and nephews.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served a year in Korea, where he was saved. As an educator in Hawkins County for 46 years, he influenced the lives of many people. He is missed by his family and friends.
