STEPHEN CYRUS BROWN was born June 20, 1945 and went peacefully home to be with the Lord while sleeping on October 12, 2016 at the age of 71 years, 3 months and 22 days. He was the son of Myrel and Virginia Brown.
He was preceded in death by his father, Myrel Brown.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Brown of the home; mother, Virginia Brown; 2 brothers, Joe Brown and Randy Brown; 1 son, Robert J. Brown; 3 daughters, Jenny Brown, Andrea Barrett and Brittany Mitchell; 14 grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
He was saved as a 15 year old boy and joined Little Cowan Church. He later joined West View and he dearly loved his church family. Throughout his life, he continued in his faith with the hope and prayers that all his family, friends, and loved ones would follow him in salvation. He enjoyed worshipping the Lord and singing His praises.
After high school, Mr. Brown graduated from Pikeville College and went to work for Bell Telephone in Lexington, KY. He later took a job with United Intermountain Telephone and moved to the Hickory Tree community of Bristol, TN. His work took him to Kansas City, MO for a short time and he later resided on a small farm near Bristol, VA for a few years. He lived in Blountville for over 30 years, until his passing.
Mr. Brown retired from United Intermountain Telephone (Sprint) with 30 years of service as a construction engineering manager. Later, he worked for engineering firms that did contract work for his former employer. Mr. Brown was an avid fisherman. He was a charter member of both The Tennessee Christian Bass Anglers and The Reel Christian Bass Anglers of Tennessee. He also enjoyed gardening and bird watching. A loving husband, son, father, and grandfather, he is greatly missed by his family, church family and all that knew him.
