ELDER ROBERT E. (BOBBY) WILLIAMS was born December 11, 1937 in Cumberland, KY. He went home to be with his Lord and Master at Mt. Home V.A. Hospital in Johnson City, TN on April 13, 2012.

Bob was married to Juanita Simpson on May 3, 1959 in Sneedville, TN.

He spent 3 years in the U.S. Army and was employed in the Food Industry, working as meat managers and grocery store managers. He retired from Food Lion in 1992 due to health reasons. He spent his time studying and researching the Bible that he might be able to help others understand the word of God and that salvation is of the Lord.

Bob will be missed by those who loved him dearly. When God called Bob home, there was a great book of wisdom closed that will never be opened again, except through council that he left to those who follow him. His grandchildren keep saying that “Pappi” was the wisest man we ever met. We won’t have anyone to talk to and get council from like we did from him. He always had the right answers to our questions. He always went to the Bible and gave us what the word of the Lord says. What Bob stood for and the life he lived was a great example for all who knew him.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Kathleen Williams; 1 sister, Phyllis Holder and 2 brothers, Jimmy and Paul Williams.

Bob is survived by his wife of nearly 53 years, Juanita Simpson Williams; 4 children, Dewayne Williams, Sherry Hawkins, Robin Renee Williams and Shannon Williams; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Sharon Brown and Donna Overlin and 2 brothers, Glen Williams and Buddy Williams.

Bob was a member of Mt. Mitchell Church. He was saved in 1953 at Peterson’s Chapel Church. He began preaching to the boys he was stationed with in Germany when he was 20 years old. The guys would say “Tennessee” tell us what the Bible says. He carried the gospel of the Lord Jesus to people throughout the Eastern District and other boundaries traveling in revivals and visiting churches in a 6 state radius. Bob pastored 16 churches during his ministry.
