ARGEL LEE SEAL, 83, of Sneedville, TN, went home to be with the Lord on May 26th, 2023. She was a member of Swan Creek Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harrison and Hazel Brewer; step-mother, Orea Brewer; son, Rick Brewer; brothers, Ronnie and Charles Brewer; and her husband, George Seal.

Argel is survived by her children, Joyce (Jack) Collins, Terry (Crystal) Cope, Tammy and the late (Kevin Suggs); grandkids, Wesley, Holly, Jordan, Keesha, Johnathan, Josh, Terra, Raegan, Braeden, and Isaiah; great-grandchildren, Jutson, Haddie, Bella, Cayden, Addison, Oceania, Havien, and Lila Rose; sisters, Pauline King and Maedean (Ralph) Sutton; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. She is gone but never forgotten and will be missed dearly until we meet again.

DEBBIE L. SIMMONS, age 67, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2023, at the Wilmington Nursing and Rehabilitation center. She was born April 17, 1955, in El Paso, Texas, the daughter of the late Marvin and Dorothy (Davidson) Carter. Debbie was a member of the Macedonia Church, was the former owner of Sisters Craft Shack in Wilmington, and had owned the Dart Dairy Bar in Blanchester. She was a huge Elvis fan and enjoyed crafting. Most of all, she loved her family and being with family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Clem Simmons; children, Bryan Simmons, Kimberly Ann Robinson, Sopinda Lavecchia, and Dr. Siriporn Bulls-Fernandez; grandchildren, Brad, Selena, Porter, Bay, Christopher, and Alicia; sister, Judy and her husband Kenny Taylor; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; many friends, including Pam and Danny Pogue, Mark Daniels, and Linda Hoggett. In addition to her parents, Debbie is preceded in death by her brother Bill Carter and her son’s fiancé Misty Blackburn.

CHARLENE BAKER SMITH, 81, of Bristol, Va., went to be with the Lord peacefully on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Oakmont at Gordan Park, after a lengthy illness. She was born on April 30, 1941, in Bristol, Va., a daughter of the late Charlie and Rosa Whitaker Baker. She was one of nine children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude W. Smith; and siblings, Juanita Baker, Johnny Baker, Hanford Baker, Norman Baker, Lawrence Baker, and Ruby Baker.

Charlene married the late Claude W. Smith and enjoyed 53 years together. She enjoyed her traveling with her husband as an accomplished marksman. She also enjoyed her traveling to Europe, England, Vancouver, and other places with her son, Greg and daughter-in-law, Cherry.

Charlene was a member of West View Church. She loved to go to church and be with her church family.

She is survived and loved by her son, Greg Smith and wife, Cherry; sister, Mary Baker; brother, Tom Baker and wife, Linda; several nieces and nephews; a host of friends; and a loving god-child she helped raise and love, Parker Maggard.

LOUELLA LANEY STEPP, 59, of Louisa, KY passed away July 25, 2023 following a long illness. LouElla was born on Feb. 6, 1964 to the late Milton and Bessie Laney. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, David Preston, Melvin Preston, and Michael Laney; and sisters, Junenell May and Janie Marcum. She was a member of Richardson Chapel Church.

LouElla is survived by her husband, James Stepp; sons, James Boyd, Brandon Boyd, Josh Stepp, and Chad Stepp; daughter, Karla Stepp; grandson, Brayden Boyd; sisters, Annie (Brad) Dutton and Mickey (William) Rose; and a host of nieces and nephews.

LEANORIA F. STEVENS, 62, of Erwin, TN, passed away in her earthly home, and went home to be with the Lord, on November 26, 2022. “Lenore” was born to Freeman and Naomi Thacker in Hawkins County, TN, and later moved to Kingsport. She married the love of her life, Richard Stevens, and the couple enjoyed over thirty-six years of marriage together. They had two children, Amber and Matthew. Lenore was a homemaker who served others and enjoyed working in her flower garden. She was a member at Poplar Grove Church.

She loved the son “O I Want to See Him” and we know that desire has now been granted. We miss Lenore and her sweet testimony, but we know she is resting and is no longer in pain.

HELEN MAGDALENE STIPE, 96, passed away February 3, 2023, at Norton Community Hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Big Stone Gap. She loved to quilt and crochet. She was a member of Cadet Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for over 20 years. In her later years, the church members enjoyed her discussions in the adult Sunday School class. “Mag” was a inspiration for the whole Cadet community. Many of her friends loved talking to her for her advice and discussing the Bible.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Lee Stipe; son, Gary Stipe; parents, Roscoe and Elizabeth “Lizzie” (Yeary) Williams; two brothers; and two sisters.

Surviving are her son, Jeffrey Stipe (Donna); grandchildren, Amy Brewer (Robert) and Jason Stipe; great-grandson, Elijah Brewer; sister, Shirley Shafer; several nieces and nephews; and several very special friends.

All that knew Mag was her friend and loved her. Everyone that knew her misses her and cherishes the memories of her.

RANDLE CARSON STURGILL, 79, entered into eternal rest on August 14, 2023, with his loving family by his side.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Baxter and Mary Sturgill; sisters Jackie Gillenwater and Norma Bowman; and brother Daniel Sturgill.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 57 years, Janice (Balthis) Sturgill; daughter, Penni Sturgill; son, Randy Sturgill; and grandchildren, Shannon Sturgill, Ashley Sturgill, Kaleigh Sturgill, Carson and Cooper Sturgill, Tanner Ray Dingus, and Abigail Dingus.

He was a member of Poplar Grove Church where he served as a deacon. He will be greatly missed.

PAUL FRED SULLIVAN was born June 15, 1948 and went home to be with Jesus on June 4, 2023 at his home in Kingsport, TN. He was saved at a daytime revival at Blackwater Lick Church and was baptized on June 10, 1961, joining Flower Gap Church. He rededicated his life to Christ at a revival in 2016 at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Kingsport, TN where he became a faithful friend and servant until his illness. He proudly served in the U.S. Army for two years of which thirteen months were served in Korea.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Laura (Johnson) Sullivan; brothers, Chris Sullivan, Jr. and Ronald Eugene Sullivan; father and mother-in-law, "Babe" and Rachael Stapleton; sister-in-law, Genia Miller; and brother-in-law, Quinn Gardner.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Shirley Sullivan; sisters, Vonda Gardner and Cheryl (Roy) Thomas; sister-in-law, Darsulla Sullivan; brother-in-law, Carl Miller; a special Aunt and Uncle, Ruth (Sister) and Arvel Lewis; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

While he was in the hospital one Sunday morning, God's Holy Spirit came into the room and Fred started raising his hands and praising God and said, "There's nothing between me and God." And singing, "Glory, glory, glory, somebody touched me" and "He's got the whole world in His hands". He was so peaceful, and you could feel the "Spirit" all around. We had our last church service with him before God called him home. He wanted to hear his brother's voice and now they are together.

So, sleep on dear one and we will all meet again on that glorious day. Fred witnessed to doctors and nurses and would tell them to "trust and obey" so as his last witness to all of us, we need to trust and obey God's Word.

RONALD EUGENE (GENE) SULLIVAN, 83, was born May 13, 1939, and the Lord called him to rest on May 1, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Laura Sullivan, and brother, Chris Sullivan, Jr. He was saved at Flower Gap Church at an early age. He served as clerk for many years. He loved his church very much and sang in the Flower Gap Quartet for years. He loved to sing, attend Sunday School, and most of all, read his Bible daily. He read it all the way through many times. He was a member of the McPherson Lodge No. 99 and served as secretary for many years until his sickness.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife of 60 years, Darsulla Sullivan; sisters, Vonda Gardner and Cheryl Thomas (Roy); brother, Paul Fred Sullivan (Shirley); nephews, Christopher (Kelci) and Jared (Stephanie) Thomas; nieces, Lesa Gardener, Laura (Beth) Grindstaff, Sarah (Collin) Rodgers, Melora Thomas (fiancé, Carl Littrell), and Stephanie Collins; brothers-in-law, Ralph Smith, Roy Thomas and Stevie Collins; many other nieces, nephews, and many friends and relatives.

We will miss you dearly. We all love you and are so thankful for your guidance and wisdom. God held his hand as he crossed over Jordan and will forever hold him in his strong arms. Rest on, Gene, and we will meet you again in Heaven.

JESSIE TURNER, age 88, of Miamisburg, Ohio passed away November 3, 2022. He was born in Altro, Kentucky on January 30, 1934 to the late Johnny and Sinda (Johnson) Turner. Jessie was a family man who loved his family and enjoyed gospel music and UK basketball. He was preceded in death by his wife, Millie, his parents, eight brothers, and two sisters.

Jessie is survived by his daughters, Clynthian Lee Turner, and Mimia Sue Turner; sons, Kenneth Scott (Debbie), and Jesse Douglas (Patty) Turner; grandchildren, Beth Ann (Tim) Rudd, Bobby (Gabrielle) Kinder, Brad Turner, Stacie (Jeff) Whiteside, and Lori Turner; several great-grandchildren; sister, Margie Baker; brother, Robert Turner; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

MAUDE TURNER, 84, of Carlisle, OH, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 12, 2023. She was born to the late Jesse and Polly Ann in Wolfe Coal, KY on May 23, 1939. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Elder John Turner; son, Rickey Turner; grandson, Shawn Crase; a sister and two brothers.

She is survived by her daughters, Anita (Mark) Newkirk, Marcella (Marvin) Simpson, Loretta (Dave) Eastridge, Melissa Jarvis, Jessica (Jason) Moss; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Maude was a member of the Rose Chapel Church since 1981. She served the church well as a pastor’s wife and was a faithful servant until the time she was not able to attend due to bad health.

Her heart’s desire was for her family to be together in Heaven forever and ever.

DAVID LEE WELLS, 49, of Dryden, VA, passed away, July 24, 2023 at his residence. He was born on May 26, 1974, in Norton, VA, to the late Jackie Ronald Wells, Sr. and Rebecca Jane Collier Wells. He was a member of Valley View Church. He was a loving father, brother, uncle, and friend and will be greatly missed by all that loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Shiena Wells, Myah Wells, Addison Pennington, and Brooke Pennington; son, James Lee Curtis Brummitt; brother, Jackie Wells, Jr.; sisters, Tracey Herron and Carla Milam; caregiver and mother to his children, Ledawn Pennington; and several nieces and nephews.

CLARA LAUNA WHEELER, 88, of Whitesburg, passed away July 15, 2023, at Life Care Center of Morristown. She was a member of New Life Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Flora Hawkins; loving husband, Elder Henry Wheeler; sister, Marie Bell; brothers, Hilary, Carl, Truman, and Marvin Clay Hawkins.

She is survived by her daughters, Janet (Sonny) Lawson, and Glenda (Bill) Hicks; son, Chris (Vicky) Wheeler; granddaughters, Jill (David) Margelowsky, LaCrista (Michael) Blanton; a great-granddaughter; and a great-grandson; two great-great-grandsons; several nieces, nephews, and a host of dear friends.

Rest on dear lady, until we meet again.

NAOMI RUTH ADKINS, of Troy, OH, went home to be with Jesus on December 31, 2020, at the age of 64. Her devotion to family and her firm belief in God supported her struggle and ultimately gave her peace. Naomi was born to Joe and Emma Jean Robinette on February 16, 1956. She was immersed into the Christian faith by her loving parents at a young age. Naomi was a member of Fairview Primitive Baptist Church. She loved to sing and worship with her brothers and sisters.

Naomi was blessed with a large and loving family. She married her best friend, Reed Adkins, on June 29, 1997, in Jackson, OH. Naomi and Reed were a blessing to all who listened to them praise the Lord together in song throughout the years. Singing was a lifelong passion of Naomi’s. She brought many people to Jesus over the years through her songs and testimonies. Her family and friends are sure to miss her light shining in their lives.

Naomi was preceded in death by her first husband, Carson Payne; one brother, Fred Robinette; her niece, Candy Johnson; and one great nephew, Kaden Johnson.

Naomi is survived by her loving parents, Joe and Emma Jean Robinette; her husband, Reed Adkins; five children, Christy (Stephen) Cook, Shannon Payne, Tyler (Cathy) Adkins, Mary (Chuck) Petersimes, and Matt (Bobby Jo) Adkins; two sisters, Donna Robinette and Joanne (Mike) Longacre, three brothers Kyle Robinette, Parmer Robinette, and Jason (August) Robinette. She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins, who will miss her loving smile.

For more than 30 years, Naomi worked for Kroger. She was a manager with a servant heart. She often spoke of her fellow coworkers and friends there. She retired in February 2020.

DANNY KAY “BIRD” BAILEY, 71, of Surgoinsville, passed away March 3, 2021 after a brief illness. He was a member of Long Hollow Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Ellene Bailey; brothers Jeptha Bailey and Clinton Bailey, Jr. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Vietnam War. He was lover by many and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include dis daughters, Kimberly Danielle and Danielle Renee Bailey; son, Brendon Bailey; stepchildren, Travis Buckholz and Lacy Unroe; grandchildren, Zaelin Tucker Thomas Roberts, Brinley Unroe, and Emeri Jade Unroe; brother, James Richard Bailey; sister, Sharon (Dennis) Phipps; several nieces and nephews, and special friends, Brenda Renee Johnson, Bennie Williams, Patrick Mahoney, Ralph Lindsay, Lisa and Izak Griggs. Until we meet again in Heaven.

RONNIE G. BREWER, age 68, of Sneedville, passed away February 18, 2021. He professed faith in Christ at the age of 15 and joined Swan Creek Baptist Church. Ronnie loved to sing. He was a very special husband, and he will be sadly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harrison G Brewer & Hazel Perry Brewer; brother, Charles Brewer and his stepmother, Ora Hatfield Brewer.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Nancy Brewer; sisters, Mae Dean (Ralph) Sutton, Pauline King, and Argel Lee Seal; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of other family and friends.

Ronnie had many beloved friends, neighbors, and brothers and sisters in Christ, all of whom are blessed by memories of his kindness and his faith. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but his loved ones are assured that he is resting peacefully with the Lord.

CAROLYN ANN “ROBINETTE” BUCHANAN, age 80, of Medford OK, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2021, at the Integris Bass Hospital in Enid, OK. Carolyn was born on May 21, 1941, in Bellbrook, OH. She was the daughter of the late Annie Sue “Walker” Beegle and Wesley Ellsworth Beegle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Claude Ray Beegle; a sister, Jenny Sue Keeton; great- grandson, Landyn Wade Graham; son-in-law, Billy Eugine Whitt; and daughter-in-law, Regina Kerns Robinette.

On May 26, 1956, Carolyn married Roy Parmer Robinette. This union blessed them with four daughters and one son: Geraldine Whitt, Mary (Alvin) Ashcraft, Roy Daniel Robinette, Shirley (Jerry) Biby, and Ruth Ann (Kevin) Guinn. While living in Chandler, OK, Roy’s life tragically ended in 1985.

On November 7, 1987, Carolyn married Calvin Jerry Buchanan where she was blessed with two step-sons, Roger (Cindy) Buchanan, and Danny Buchanan. After an extended illness, Jerry passed away in 2013.

Along with her children, she is survived by two brothers, Joel (Diana) Beegle and Mike (Shirley) Beegle. A host of friends, nieces, nephews, 12 grandchildren, and 21 great children will miss everything about her.

Carolyn loved her family more than anything. She looked forward to the big family gatherings where all of her family could be together. She also enjoyed her work with the Wheatheart Program in Medford right up until it closed in 2019.

BRADLEY TYLER BURKE, age 87, of Stickleyville, VA, passed away November 26, 2020. He was a member of Livingston’s Chapel/Wallen’s Creek and last attended Blue Springs Church in Stickleyville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Zach and Mary Burke; brothers Champ, Jim Bruce, and infant brother John David Burke; sisters Fern Marcum, Zelma Bowens, and Francis "Wren" Tomlinson.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Judy Burke; two children, Deborah Hammonds and Larry Burke, sister Lois Page, five grandsons, and nine great- grandchildren.

Tyler was a meek and faithful servant of the Lord, which he openly expressed through prayers and testimonies. Although he is deeply missed by all, we find great comfort in knowing he is with his Savior in Heaven.

JUANITA “RUTH” CARTER, age 97, of Waynesville, passed away Monday, April 19th, 2021, at Bethany Lutheran Village.

Ruth was born November 22, 1923, in Blackwater, Virginia, to Roberta (Stewart) and Ramon Victor Childress. She lived her early years in Kingsport, TN, before making her home in Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Carter in 1993, and more recently by sons, Terry and Garry. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Barbara Emrick (Donald), son Merrill, and daughter-in-law, Gynger Carter, grandchildren, Lindsey, Lauren, Amy, Matthew, Amber, Ryan, and Bradley, great-grandchildren, Hava, Titus, Carter, Ethan, Emily, Nicholas, Ashley, Elana, and Maliyah.

Ruth enjoyed church and was a loyal member of Fairview Primitive Baptist Church for decades. As a dedicated homemaker, she loved cooking, baking, sewing, crocheting, quilting, and food canning, and often gifted apple butter and jam to family and friends. She had a large garden and grew her own vegetables and grapes, which she used to make grape juice and grape jelly.

DORCE “SONNY” CAUDILL, 82, of Whitesburg, passed away August 22, 2021 at the Highlands ARH in Prestonsburg, KY. Sonny was the son of the late David and Dorothy Basham Caudill. He was the widower of Joyce Collier Caudill. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Betty Caudill.

Surviving are sons, Rick (Debbie) Caudill and Tim (Cheryl) Caudill; special grandchild, Kayla; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

He was a member of Little Cowan Primitive Baptist Church.

SHERRY ANN COPE, age 60, of Sneedville, passed away December 1, 2020 at home with family. She was a member of Swan Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norma Jean Baker, Tyler Baker, and J.D. Collins; several aunts & uncles; father-in-law, Fred Cope; and brother-in-law, Lonnie Cope.

Survivors include her Husband, Fred Cope Jr.; daughter, Tasha (Michael) Gordon; grandchildren, Adren (Michael) Pruitt and Elijah Seal; great-grandchildren, Diesel Pruitt and Hallie Pruitt; sisters, Joyce (Carson) Bolden, Shirley (John) Willis, Tricia Collins, Delois Collins, Kathy Collins and Bernice Collins; and brothers, Venice Collins and Dennis Collins.

CHRISTINA EDENS, 86, of the Cave Springs community, passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2021. She was born in Kentucky on Christmas day. She was preceded in death by parents Burley and Sudie Hall; husband Claude Edens; and several other close family members. Surviving are: her children, Sandy Edens, Debbie Thompson, Eugene Edens, and Sharon Shepard; her beloved grandchildren, Jared and Derek Edens; Chance and Cameron Thompson; Ashley, Jordan, and Cody Shepard; adorable great-grandchildren, Makayla, Kandice, Hadlee, and Lillian Edens; Brianna Thomas; Logan and Landon Light; brother Ronnie Hall; several nieces and nephews and in-laws.

Christina was a member of Valley View Primitive Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Teacher of the Ladies’ class for several year. There will be a joyous reunion in Heaven.

ALLIA MAE ELDRIDGE, 89, left her earthly life on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 for her eternal home in heaven. Allia Mae was born August 7, 1932 to the late Earl and Eva (Wallen) Hall of Kyles Ford, TN. She called Blackwater, VA home after marrying the late Ralph Eldridge, where they lived and raised their family. After her health declined, she became a resident of Lee Nursing, Pennington Gap, VA.

During a revival in 1945, she gave her heart to the Lord and was saved on January 28th at Willis Chapel Primitive Baptist Church in Kyles Ford. She joined the church and was baptized in June of that same year. Allia Mae remained a faithful member of the church. Her health declined and she couldn’t attend, but she never forgot her church and the desire to be there and hear the preached word of God. She loved her Lord and Savior and would reference his goodness many times during conversations. Allia Mae loved to sing. She spent many years with the Willis Chapel Quartet and choir as they sang in different churches and funerals. Allia Mae also taught a youth Sunday School class.

Allia Mae was a wonderful Christian mother. She loved her home and was an immaculate housekeeper. Her family was always taken care of and she loved her children to the fullest. She anxiously awaited each call and visit. She enjoyed gardening, canning and shopping. The impact she made on her children and the prayers that she showered them with will never be forgotten and her memory will forever live in our hearts. Allia Mae suffered great loss when her eldest daughter, Deborah Eldridge passed away in December 2020. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Yount.

To cherish her precious memory, she leaves behind her daughters, Karen Arnott and Genia (Eddie) Garrett; grandchildren, Travis (Carla) Arnott and Kita Eldridge; great-grandsons, Parker and Blake Arnott; and sister, Betty Yount.

RANDY FIELDS, age 53, of Surgoinsville, was born June 9, 1967. He passed away January 23, 2021. He was the son of the late Jean and Dub Fields. He was a member of Long Hollow Church.

Survivors are his daughter, Megan; son, Tyler; two grandchildren; brother, Jim Fields; sister, Amanda Bradley; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and a host of dear friends.

J.D. GILREATH, 86, passed away on December 18, 2020 at the Holston Valley Medical Center from complications of Covid-19.

Born May 5, 1934, he spent his boyhood years plowing fields, tending livestock, and rambling the countryside with his siblings. One memory he spoke of was as a very small child sitting under a tree playing with blocks his father would give him while his father helped build Mt. Mitchell Church.

He worked briefly as a florist before joining Kingsport Fire Department in 1957. For 34 years, he took pride in providing safety and security for the community.

His memory will remain kindled in the hearts of his sister, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren nieces, nephews, and many friends.

RUBY JEAN STURGILL HOLBROOK, 64, went to be with the Lord on May 19, 2021. She was a member of Edwin Holbrook Memorial Church. She was preceded in death by daughter, Dean; son, Jonathon; and brother, Arco.

She is survived by sisters, Alice Baker and Geneva Collins; and nephew, Travis Baker.

She will be missed by family and friends.

LARRY KEITH IRVIN, was born October 6,1950 and went to be with the Lord May 28, 2021 at the VA Medical Center after a brief illness. Keith resided in Kingsport his entire life. He honorably served his country as a soldier in the US Army and fought in the Vietnam War. He retired from Eastman after 44 years of service. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Wilson Irvin.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Linda Irvin; his brother Elder Oscar Irvin and wife Priscilla; grandchildren Nathaniel Dishner, Joy Dishner, and Kimberly Trent; several nieces and nephews; special friend Roff Gheman.

Keith attended Poplar Grove faithfully until his passing and he is missed terribly by his church family and friends. We miss him but we are thankful for the hope that we will meet again. Our loss is Heaven’s gain. Rest easy, Unkie!

DOROTHY D. JOHNSON, age 48, of Morristown, TN, went home to be with the Lord on August 14th, 2021. She was a member of New Life Primitive Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Terry Johnson; and children, Brittany L. Johnson and Terry Zach Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Freeman and Nancy Freeman. Also preceding her in death was her mother-in-law, Mary Ann Johnson Hodge; brother- in-law, Elder Donald Lowell Johnson; and many family and friends.

She was raised mostly by her grandmother Dorothy Wilbur and Roger and Loretta Manring.

MARGARET ANN JOHNSON, age 70, of Sneedville, entered Heaven’s gates to rejoice with her Savior and her heavenly family on September 14, 2020. She was a member of Swan Creek Baptist Church.

A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Margaret was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, especially over the holidays. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and so many others who had the privilege of knowing her.

Margaret was preceded in death by her son, Elmer “Ray” Bunch; father, Edgar Helmick; mother, Bobbie Helmick; mother, Ina Self; sisters, Linda Wright and Janice Helmick; and brother, Rick Helmick.

She is survived by her husband, Junior Lee Johnson; sons, Johnny (Ann) Bunch, Jerry “Duck” (Angie) Johnson, and Jack (Carrie) Johnson; grandchildren, Taylor (Justin) Burke, Leigha (Tyler) Lee, Madison Johnson, Tyler Johnson, Lillian Bunch, Hayden Johnson and Patrick Collins; brother, Nelson (Mary) Helmick; sisters, Becky Helmick & Pamela Cox; and several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in- law.

CHRISTOPHER “CHRIS” CLARENCE KING, born January 29, 1974, went home to be with the Lord on December 24, 2020. He loved the outdoors and hunting. Finding his rue calling and passion in law enforcement, he began his career with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department. Along the way, he also worked as a community corrections officer for the Third District Community in Sneedville and also as an investigator with the Bean Station Police Department. He joined the LMU Campus Police and Security Department as the second in command in 2017. November 7, 2020, he was appointed Chief, where he had big dreams for the campus, staff and his family. Chris made many friends over the years of his career, and many he loved as brothers and family. He was preceded in death by his dad, Clarence King; and Bill Singleton, whom he loved as father.

He leaves behind his wife of 25 years, Sharon King; sons, Corey (Callie) King and Hunter King; mother, Pauline King; sisters, Diane (Danny) Lamb and Tina (Mark) McCoy; nephew, Michael (Stephanie) Lamb; niece, Ashley (Brandon) Duckworth; Sylvia (Grandmur) Singleton, whom he loved as a second mother; and many friends and extended family.

LINDA RAYMOND LAMBERT, was born September 18, 1949 and entered into eternal rest and peace March 24, 2021.

Linda lived most of her life in Blackwater and Lee County, VA before moving to Weber City, VA. She was an active member of Osborne’s Chapel Church and later at West View Church.

She remained a loyal servant of the Lord at West View as long as she was able. She loved her church families and neighbors. She checked in on friends often. She was a dedicated and hard worker all of her life.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, John C. Raymond and Nannie M. Fannon Raymond.

She is survived by her son, David W. Lambert III and wife Tammy Head Lambert; grandson, Cameron Dawson; sister, Margaret Raymond Wallen and husband Gary Wallen; and many nieces and nephews as well as her extended Lambert and Wallen families.

DUSTIN ERIC LAWSON was born in Sullivan County, TN on January 24, 1981 and departed this life November 30, 2020 at the age of 39 years, 10 months and 6 days. He was the son of Daniel (Danny) and Rebecca (Becky) Winkle Lawson.

Dustin graduated from Sullivan Central High School in 1999 and from Northeast State Community College in 2011.

He married Tressa Ball on July 15, 2010 and to this union was born 1 daughter.

Dustin was saved in 2015 and joined Blackwater Lick Church. He was blessed with a wonderful strong singing voice and sang proudly for the Lord. He was a hard worker who loved to sing God’s praise and help in any way possible for the church. He would give you the shirt off his back just to help.

He worked at various companies, mostly dealing with the cell phone industry; climbing cell phone towers and performing equipment audits all across America.

Dustin was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Elder Virgil Lee Winkle and Faye Sampson Winkle; and his paternal grandfather, Elder Carl Lawson; several aunts, uncles and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Tressa Lawson; 1 daughter, Darcy Makenna Lawson; 1 stepson, Casey Hartsell; his parents, Danny and Becky Lawson; 1 brother, Adam Lawson (Holly); his paternal grandmother, Pauline Osborne Lawson, who passed away 1 day after his passing, and a host of friends and relatives.

His greatest joy in this life was serving the Lord. Always willing to lend a helping hand, he touched countless lives over the years. His pain and suffering are finished, his knees and back do not cause him any pain now and he is home with the Lord.

MAGGIE ELLEN LAMBERT LAWSON, age 89, of the Mountain View Community, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 28, 2021, at Ridgecrest Manor in Duffield, VA. She was a beloved mother, a longtime member of the Mountain View Primitive Baptist Church. She was a homemaker, who loved quilting, gardening and her flowers. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Ruby Lockhart Lambert.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Lawson; and daughters, Tammy Rivers Mooneyhan and Ruby Lawson.

She is survived by daughter, Angela Lawson; son, Ivan and wife Lana Lawson; grandchildren: Jessica and Jacob Lawson, Joshua Rivers, and Eric Lawson; great- grandchildren, Jacob Curtis Lee Rivers, John Paul David Rivers, Gracie Marie Lawson, Josie Lee Lawson and Mia Jerrell; sisters, Doris Burke, Thelma Welch, Mary Lou Woodard and Opal Muncy; brothers, Roy Lambert, Carl Lambert, and Harold Dean Lambert; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

PAULINE OSBORNE LAWSON was born in Lee County, VA on February 18, 1922 and departed this life December 1, 2020 at the age of 98 years, 9 months and 13 days. She was the daughter of the late Orbin and Maxie Horton Osborne.

Pauline graduated from Blackwater High School and worked on the family farm before moving to Kingsport. She married Carl Lawson on February 7, 1947 and to this union was born 1 daughter and 2 sons.

Pauline was saved at an early age and joined Blackwater Lick Church. As a part of the Osborne Quartet, she was privileged to sing in many churches throughout the tri- state region. She lived her life serving the Lord through her songs of praise and in any way she could help the church. She was a true example of the virtuous woman spoken of in Proverbs.

Upon moving to Kingsport, she worked at J.P. Stevens Cotton Mill and the Kingsport Press. She studied hard to obtain her cosmetology license, later working as a Hair Dresser.

She was the last remaining sibling of her family, being preceded in death by her parents, Orbin and Maxie Horton Osborne; her husband, Elder Carl Lawson; 4 sisters, Rubena Osborne, Nannie Kate Wallen, Madge Canter and Peggy Mellons; 2 brothers, Johnny and Delano Osborne, and 1 grandson, Dustin Lawson.

Survivors include 1 daughter, Betty Ann Baker (Hershel); 2 sons, Carl Lawson, Jr. (Linda) and Danny Lawson (Becky); 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 3 great- great grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives.

Her greatest joy in this life was serving the Lord. Always willing to lend a helping hand, she touched countless lives over the years. Her suffering is over, her legs are steady, and she is at rest with the Lord in that place she sung about for so many years.

WILMA JEAN LAWSON, age 90, of the Dryden community went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 26, 2021, at her home. Jean was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and daughter. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Calvin Brownlow Lawson, her mother Golden Marie Morefield, and brother Vernon Morefield.

She is survived by her daughter, Judith Marie Lawson; grandson Jason Todd Hartsock and wife Julia; sister-in-law Sarah Elizabeth Lawson; special friends, Gene Smith; Susie and Joe Jones, Dorothy Hall; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Jean was saved at Valley View Church where she was baptized and joined soon thereafter. She was a quiet, respected, and elegant lady who will be greatly missed.

GERALD H. MOORE, known as Jerry or Gerrell to family and friends, died peacefully on October 25, 2020 after a brief battle with Covid-19. We are heartbroken and devastated by our loss, but we find strength and solace through our Lord and Savior and the promise that He made us, that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 51 years, Anita Huff Moore; daughter, Melanie Moore Deckard (Joey) and step-granddaughter Bethany; brother-in- law, Jim Huff (Pam); special nephew, Jacob Huff (Hollie) and daughter Johnna; sisters, Betty Casteel and Jackalo Garrison; sister-in-law, Yvonne Moore; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and loved ones.

Jerry was a kind and gentle Christian, born in Emboden, VA on February 10, 1937, to the late Clarence and Georgia Watkins Moore. He was also preceded in death by his two dear brothers, Buddy Moore and Scottie Moore, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lester and Gladys Huff.

Jerry loved to tell of his adventures in Cracker's Neck with his siblings, and he cherished the memories of singing with them in The Moore Family Singers throughout their childhood. This love of music never left him, and our entire church community still loved to hear him. The memories of his musical proclamation It Is Well With My Soul give us great comfort during this difficult time.

He loved and appreciated the simple things in life, such as being home with his wife after retiring from Eastman in 1991, and being a loyal member of Blackwater Lick Primitive Baptist Church, where he served as trustee and assistant song leader. His smile and gentle nature were a blessing to everyone who knew him.

NANCY BROOKS MORRISON passed away May 2, 2021 at age 79. Nancy was a member of Poplar Grove and attended faithfully as long as her health permitted. We always enjoyed Nancy’s testimony. She loved reading her Bible, was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister.

She was preceded in death by husband, Gene Brooks; second husband, Howard Morrison; and brother, Jerry Caldwell. She is survived by daughter, Sara Simpson; grandson, Elijah Simpson; brothers, Cecil, Dennis and David Caldwell; stepsisters, Pat Hunter, Darlene Jackson and Kathy Duncan; and several nieces and nephews.

ROMA O’DELL was born December 1961 and left this life on February 13, 2021 for her Heavenly home. She was saved and joined Burke’s Union Church when she was young.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Daphalene Bledsoe; and sister, Julia Cobb.

She is survived by sisters, Rena Moore, Margie Shepherd, and Mary Arnold; and brother, Stanley Bledsoe.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. So rest until that day when Jesus comes again.

JOANN JENNINGS PALMER departed this life for her Heavenly home on July 9, 2021. Born the second daughter of nine children to Noah and Daphne (Kilgore) Stapleton in Scott County, VA, she lived most of her life there. She was married to Hobert (Doby) Jennings and had two sons, Paul and Terry. She was a member of Copper Creek (Addington Frame) Church for many years and faithfully attended until her passing. She was also an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She had five grandchildren, Amanda, Lori, Necole, Leighann, and Brian, and four great- grandchildren.

She was a quiet and gentle lady who gave of herself seeing after family and friends. She was a hard worker and retired from Eastman Chemical Company. She was a blessing to our family and loved by all who knew her. She was married to Roland Palmer in later years, and they enjoyed several years together. We miss her every day, and we know she is resting in paradise awaiting the reunion of her four loving sisters, Nell Kendrick, Marie Addington, Flo Minton, and Carol Culbertson.

POLLY GENE ROBINETTE PENLEY, age 90, of Greeneville, TN, went to be with the Lord on November 4, 2020 at Holston Valley Medical Center. She retired from North American Phillips (Magnavox) with 40 plus years of service and was a member of Marion Robinette Memorial Primitive Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover C. “Pete” Penley; parents, Carson and Clara Goan Robinette; brother, M.C. Robinette, Jr., and wife, Barbara; sisters, Eula Kate Sexton, Evelyn Jessee, and husband, Arnold, Millicent Thacker, and husband, Earl; and one great-grandson.

She is survived by her brother, Wayne Robinette, and wife, Shirley; special great- grandson, Zack Wilds, who resided with her; special daughter-in-law, Glenda Jones; two sons, Kyle and Warren Gene Penley; four grandchildren, Brandy, Alexander, Alisha, and Shane; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

DENNIS PHILLIPS, age 58, of Bulls Gap, passed away on June 23, 2021, in Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was a graduate of West Greene High School. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Management and a Master of Arts degree in American History and European Studies from East Tennessee State University.

Dennis was a former disk jockey at WSMG radio station serving the Greeneville community and was an Adjunct Professor of History at Walters State Community College.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Peggy Self Phillips.

He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Joy Sexton Phillips; son, Larry Lawson, Jr. (Dayna); grandson, Jordan Lawson; sisters-in-law, Dorcas Fairchild, Gloria McLain, and Minnie (Susie) Sexton; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

CHARLES “JUNIOR” PUCKETT, 78, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 25, 2021 at his residence. He was born on December 6, 1942 in Scott County, VA, a son of the late Fonnie and Lizzie (Thompson) Puckett. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Germany. He was a loving husband, father, papaw and friend and will be dearly missed. Rev. Puckett pastored numerous local churches and was a member of Willow Chapel Primitive Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen Puckett; brother, Rev. Ronald Puckett and nephew, Shannon Rhoton. Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years, Sue Puckett, of the home; daughters, Kim Lee and husband Johnny, Ft. Blackmore, VA; Christine Burke and husband Adam, Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Derrick (Jessica) Bowen, Sabrina Sawyer, Dalton Sawyer, Ashtin Burke, Haley Burke and Brandon Lee; great – Grandchildren, Gabe Lee, Mckiuh Johnson, Mickey Johnson, Riley Bowen, Maddox Johnson, Ezruh Ashworth, Krestley Lee, Maverick Burke and one great grandchild expected in October; niece, Brenda Rhoton; nephew, Ronnie Puckett; several great nieces and nephews; very special friend, JM Dorton.

WILLIAM G. “BILL” SPURLOCK, age 88, of Kingsport, TN, was born in Harlan County, KY on February 15, 1932 and passed away on October 29, 2020.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George L. and Senora Wilson Spurlock; two sisters, and two brothers.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his son, Roy Alan Spurlock; and two sisters and one brother.

He is survived by his wife, Jeweldean Short Spurlock; sons, Billy Spurlock and Alan (Annette) Spurlock; daughter, Vickie Spurlock; granddaughter, Anna Marie Spurlock; special nephew, Sean Short; and special friend, Daniel Powell.

He was a faithful member, Deacon, and Church Superintendent for Poplar Grove Church. He attended faithfully as long as his health allowed.

His gentle soul and quiet spirit will be missed.

GLADYS FIELDS THACKER, age 76, of Rogersville, went home to be with the Lord on Monday May 3, 2021. She was a member of Long Hollow Church. She loved to spend as much time as possible with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John (J.C.) Thacker; daughter, Delois Lawson; son, John Curtis Thacker; grandson, Johnathan Earl Lawson; parents, Willie and Ruth Fields; brothers, Dub, John, Fred, and Lynn Fields; sisters, Dorothy and Louise Fields and Sue Laster; and special niece, Jamie Charles Miller.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Dalton (William); grandchildren, Toddy Stubblefield, Jesse Dalton, Emily Lawson (Justin), Sammatha and Austin Dalton; sister, Margie Charles (Woodroe); sisters-in-law, Linda, Brenda, and Kay Fields; brother-in-law, Raymond Laster; and special nieces and nephews.

She was loved by all and will be sadly missed by family and friends. Until we meet again, we hold sweet memories.

EDITH VANHOOSE, age 96, of Wilmington, OH, passed away peacefully in her sleep July 10, 2021. She was born August 5, 1924 in River, KY where she was a member of the River United Baptist Church. Edith was an honorary member of Macedonia Church. She was a devoted Christian and faithfully served Richardson Chapel Church and the Ohio Primitive Baptist Churches. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and prayer warrior for her family.

Edith left behind one daughter, Connie Nelson; six sons, Danny (Sharon) VanHoose, Allen (Shari) VanHoose, Roger (Penny) VanHoose, Bill VanHoose, David (Pam) VanHoose, and Sam (Vicki) VanHoose; sister Betty Stapleton; 25 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Elder Claude VanHoose; five children, Lanceford Darrell, Denvil Keith, Gypsie Francis, Wanda Lou, and Brenda Kaye; one grandchild; and 14 siblings.

She has carried us in her heart all these years and now we will forever carry her in ours. We mess you every day, but rejoice in knowing that you are home and resting in the arms of Jesus.

ROSE RITA (WORKMAN) VANOVER, 68, of Xenia, went to her eternal rest May 5, 2021. She was predeceased by her parents, George Workman and Edna Workman (Gregg); and her brothers, Robert, James, David, Roger and Wayne Workman (Buck).

She is survived by her children, Billy Vanover of Xenia, Christopher Vanover (Beth) of Xenia and Anna Lawson (Bill) of Wilmington; her grandchildren, Ashley McPherson (Dallas), Cody Lawson, Drake Lawson (Abby), Jesse Vanover, Breana, Deeana, Harley Vanover, Shane Vanover and Jessica Vanover; her great grandchildren, Madilyn, Weston, Alayna, Landen of Adriana, KJ, Lane, Logan and Elizabeth; her siblings, Wanda Hatfield, Linda Sutton, Dorothy Hill (John), Richard Workman, Larry Workman (Sera), Mark Workman (Debbie), Qwendolyn and Patricia Workman; and her sisters-in-law, Marlene, Loretta Workman, Penny and Sarah Workman.

She was the 11th child of George and Edna (Gregg) Workman. Rose gave her life to Jesus and served the Lord unto death. Rose was a faithful member at Fairview until her health would no longer allow her to attend.

EDSOL WALLEN, 80, of Yellow Springs, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born August 12, 1940 in Rogersville, TN the son of Ernest and Bessie (Willis) Wallen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings: Charlise Rhodes; Wilma Yount, Nancy Johnson, Junior Wallen, Eldon “Sonnie” Wallen, Rogan Wallen and Clifford Wallen.

He is survived by his sisters: Barbara (Wayne) Johnson and Yvonne Wallen; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He had formerly been employed at Nicks Restaurant in Xenia and was a member of the Fairview Primitive Baptist Church.

BENNIE WILLIAMS, age 72, of Rogersville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 12, 2021 at Bristol Regional Hospital. She was a member of Long Hollow Church. Her pride and joy was her family. She retired from Jacob's Construction of 30 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh Edward Williams and Pauline Short King; sister, Kathy Pearson; and best friend, Danny Bailey.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Griggs (Eric); son, Michael Burton (April); grandchildren, Tiffany Burton and Izak Griggs; great-grandchildren, Aaliyah and Autumn Wambaugh; special little man in her life, Zaelin Roberts; stepchildren, Danielle and Brendon Bailey; brothers, Larry, James, and Fayne Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

LOWELL WILLIAMS, age 79, went to be with the Lord October 22, 2020. He was saved at Pink Hill Church in April 1981 and was a member there until he passed away.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Edgar and Maude McPeek Williams; father and mother-in-law, Bill and Bessie Allen; and sisters, Thelma Chess and Dorothy Horton.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Louella Allen Williams; sons, Anthony and wife, Jennifer Williams and Allen Williams; grandchildren whom he loved so much, Cooper and Adleigh Williams; sisters, Mary Lox Hickman and Bonnie Williams; brother, Woodrow and wife Janet Williams; and several half sisters and brothers, nieces, nephew, and cousins. He will be greatly missed by the family and everyone that knew him.

DON ALLEN WILSON, 65, passed away May 25, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bertha Wilson.

Surviving is his wife, Beth Davenport Wilson; son, Jeremy Wilson; stepdaughters, Megan Davenport and Courtney Knorr; three step grandchildren; brother, Ed (Bonnie) Wilson; two aunts, one uncle, cousins, and a host of friends.

Gone from our lives, but never from our hearts. Rest on until we meet again.

ELMER WAYNE WINEGAR, 77, left his earthly body to enter the arms of Jesus, on November 6th, 2020. He was a lifelong resident of the Robinette Valley Community. He drove a truck for Holston Builders for 30 plus years. He was also a member of the Virginia National Guard. Wayne accepted Christ at a young age and was a faithful attendant at Shelby Creek Primitive Baptist Church as well as Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Most days he could be found tending crops on his farm or sitting reading his old worn Bible.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Edellas Russell Winegar, and his brother, Michael Winegar.

Left behind to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 53 years, Patsy Matlock Winegar; his brother, Larry Winegar (Joyce); daughter, Michelle Hensley (Bobby); his three grandchildren, that were the joy of his life, Dillon Hensley and special friend Brandi Ramsey, Austin Hensley (Morgan) and Erin Hensley; great grandson, Thomas Hensley; several nieces, nephews and many friends that he loved dearly. His presence and fellowship will be forever missed by his Christian brothers and sister.

LAWRENCE WINSTEAD, 72, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on August 10, 2021 due to Covid. He loved making music with his family band, Appalachian Strings. He attended Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist and Shelby Creek Churches.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Cora (Mossie) Winstead; 3 sisters and 8 brothers.

Lawrence is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dorothy Winstead; daughters, Cora Horne (Kevin) and Christie Gent (Brian); son, Mitchell Tomlinson (Beverly); sister, Juanita Head; 3 grandsons; 2 granddaughters; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He’s playing with the Heavenly band. Until we meet again.

WANDA LILLIE PLEASANT AKENS, 85, passed away at Johnson City Medical Center Wednesday, December 25, 2019. She was born August 21, 1934 in Roda, VA, where she lived until age five. She was a resident of Big Stone Gap the rest of her life. She preferred to be called Lillie.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Lillie was a full-time housewife and helped in her husband’s company as a secretary. She started attending and singing at Cadet Primitive Baptist Church at age five. God blessed her with a beautiful voice, and she led singing for over 65 years. She taught Sunday School more than 25 years, helped with Bible School and fundraisers, and witnessed to all she met.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jess Lynn Akens, Jr.; parents, Richard Frank and Ada (McBride) Pleasant; brothers, Lester, Frank, Harold, Vernon, and Kenneth Pleasant; sister, Virginia Lane; mother-in-law, Lily Horton Akens; father-in-law, Jess Lynn Akens, Sr.; and sisters-in-law, Blanch Elizabeth Akens and Eula Tignor.

She is survived by her daughters, Teresa McGuire (Bill), Vicky Jones (Roy); grandchildren, Angela Tignor (Travis), Stewart McGuire, Josh Jones (Ashley), and Justin Jones (Sheri); five great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandsons, a step-grandson, three step-great-grandchildren, and one step-great-great-grandchild; sisters, Irene Douglas, Patricia Leonard, and Pansey Giza; sisters-in-law, Marie Pleasant, Gerline Grey, and Tanya Guess; brother-in-law, Kenneth R. Akens (Shirley); many nieces, nephews, friends, brothers and sisters in Christ, and her life-long friend and church-bench-buddy, Lois Collier.

AZALEA LUCY ALLEN, 81, of Blackwater, VA, was born September 16, 1936, and went home to be with her Heavenly Father on December 10, 2017, at her home. She was a member of Blackwater Lick (Big Door) Primitive Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hamp and Minnie Roller Wallen; husband, Dana Allen; infant son, Charles David Allen; brothers, Clyde, Charles, Carl Ray, and Claude Wallen; and a sister, Pauline Brock.

Azalea is survived by her children, Junior Allen, of the home, Brenda Nichols, of Kyles Ford, TN, Rocky Allen, of Edison, TN, and Peggy Allen, of Blackwater; 3 grandsons, Adam Nichols, Cody Spears, and Timmy Spears; one great-granddaughter, Trinity Spears; sisters, Una Mae Rhoten, Nellie Ruth Gilliam, and June Wilson; several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

DAPHALENE BLEDSOE of Blackwater, VA, left this walk of life on February 27, 2020 at the age of 91 for her heavenly home. She was a faithful member at Burke’s Union Church as long as her health permitted.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Julia Cobb.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph Bledsoe; son, Stanley Bledsoe; daughters, Rena Moore, Marjorie Shepherd, Roma O’Dell (Mack), and Marie Arnold (Mike); several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She will be greatly missed by her family and her church family. Our loss is Heaven’s gain.

DAVID LEE BLEDSOE, age 70, of Blackwater, VA, departed this life on May 19, 2020. David was the son of the late Roy Lee Bledsoe and Bertha (Gilliam) Bledsoe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patty Bledsoe, and brother, Charles Bledsoe.

Surviving is his wife, Wilma Bledsoe; brother, Gary Bledsoe (Jean); sister, Debbie Bledsoe; nephews, Andrew, Scott, and Joey; great-nephews, Cody and Isaac; great-niece, Ellie; uncle, Wade Bledsoe (Patsy); and a host of dear friends.

David professed faith in Christ at an early age, and in later years, immersed in baptism. With enduring and noncomplaining patience, he courageously fought his illness of many years. He is greatly missed, but we feel assured he’s with his dear Savior in Heaven’s sweet, eternal rest.

MAE H. BOGGS, 98 of Kingscreek, passed away Monday July 13, 2020 at her residence. She was a member at Little Cowan Primitive Baptist Church. Mae was the daughter of the late Kelly and Jane Hall Hogg. She was the widow of Harrison Boggs.

Surviving are her sons, Kelly D. Boggs, Harrison K. (Vickey) Boggs, Kendall Bill (Judy) Boggs, and Timothy Wade (Melinda) Boggs; daughters, Bokey Boggs Hogan, Sonja Lynn Kohl, Becky Boggs Mohn, Eula Mae (Randy) Brown, and Deanie Pack; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; special care-giver who she thought of as a son, John Cornett; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Mae was preceded in death by her son, Tommy Carrol, and sons-in-law, James Mohn, Bruce Kohl, E.J. Hogan, and Rodney Pack.

DAWN CARTER BRADLEY, age 83, of Morristown, TN, passed away on August 23, 2020. She was a charter member of Marion Robinette Memorial Primitive Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sharon; parents, E.L. and Vada Robinette Carter; sisters, Edith Cloud and Mona Haun; brothers, Howard Carter and Nessie Carter; niece, Sandra Murray; nephews, Robert Carter and Jimmy Cabb; and brother-in-law, Leonard Bradley.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 64 years, Boyce Bradley; nieces, Jeanette Carter, Peggy Honnaker, and Linda Plankenhorn; nephews, Buddy (Pat) Carter and Larry (Joyce) Carter; sisters-in-law, Dema Jeffers and Mary (Joe) Snapp; brothers-in-law, Alton (Marjorie) Bradley; and best friends, Marma Lee Boles and Vena May Collins.

ELDER SILAS “PORTER” CARROLL, age 77, of Morristown, formerly of Sneedville, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 17, 2020. Born the son of Edna and Silas Carroll, Sr., he was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Diane Gann; and brothers, Barry Carroll and Larry Carroll.

Porter is survived by his loving wife, Wanda. He also leaves behind his dear son, Danny (Heather) Carroll; grandchildren, Hollie Varney and Todd Carroll; great-grandchildren, Hailea Elliott, Haiden Elliott, Connor McClure, Ezabella Carroll, Caiden Carroll, and Addison Carroll; and brothers, Jim (Barbara) Carroll and Mark Carroll.

Elder Carroll was a dedicated and beloved member of Swan Creek Primitive Baptist Church. He served his church with faithfulness and love throughout his lifetime. In addition to his ministry, one of his greatest legacies was his construction of the present church building. Answering the call to preach the Gospel, he was ordained by the Eastern District Association of Primitive Baptists at Swan Creek Church in April 1983. He served at the church’s pastor from 1996-2007. Elder Carroll had many beloved friends, neighbors, and brothers and sisters in Christ, all of whom are blessed by memories of his kindness and his faith. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but his loved ones are assured that he is resting peacefully with the Lord.

LOIS EMILY TRENT COLLIER was born in Flag Pond, Virginia September 6, 1919 and departed this life January 9, 2020 at the age of 100 years, 4 months and 3 days. She was the daughter of Elder Landon R. and Martha LouVerna Robinette Trent.

In November 1938, she married James E. Collier, Jr., who preceded her in death on June 16, 2000.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sons, Donald Ray and James E. Collier III; daughter, Wanda Lynn Bell; brothers, Lee and Leonard Trent; sister, Muzeta Trent; step-brother, Tom Robinette; half-sister, Ruby Johnston.

She is survived by her daughter, Martha June (Burnice) Sybert; sons, Randy and Starlin (Cindy) Collier; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; an “adopted daughter”, Carolyn Browder, and many other relatives and friends.

She was saved at an early age and joined Shuler’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. When the church merged with Cadet Church in Big Stone Gap, VA, she became a member there and was their oldest member, being faithful to the end. She attended the funeral of her best friend, Lillie Akens, at the church just 18 days before her passing. She also attended West View Primitive Baptist Church in Kingsport for many years.

She was a kind and compassionate lady who loved all her family members as well as her church families and all of God’s creation. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and making floral arrangements for the graves of family members. She fought a good fight, finished her course, and kept the faith.

LOWELL “BUTCH” CULBERTSON, 73, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at his residence following an extended illness. Butch was a lifelong resident of Kingsport and retired from Mead Paper/Willamette. Butch was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam as an MP in the 504th. He was a member of Willow Chapel Primitive Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ruby Blankenbeckler Culbertson; sister, Jewel Clamon; and brother-in-law, Gary Miller.

Butch is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda Hamilton Culbertson; son, Rusty Culbertson and wife Melissa; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Janice Jones and husband Donnie and Garnetta Miller; brothers, Jim Culbertson and wife Nelda and Carl Culbertson and wife Cynthia.

SANDRA K. DAY, 71, of Whitesburg passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at the Parkview Nursing Home in Pikeville, KY. Sandra was the daughter of Clayton and Orpha Day. She was a member of Little Cowan Primitive Baptist Church.

Surviving are her sisters, Kathy (Robert) Sword, Marcia (Eddie) Roberts, and Barbara (John) Banks; nephews, Daniel Sword, Clayton Banks, and James Roberts; nieces, Tori Akers, Clayshan Kincer, Chandra Baskin, ad Angie Jones; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

BILLY GENE DUNCAN, age 80, of Rogersville, was born November 23, 1939. God called him by name on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 from Park West Heart Center in Knoxville, with his loving family by his side. He attended Shelby Creek Church as he grew up and later attended Long Hollow Church.

Bill retired from Berkline Inc. in 2002. He loved gardening, working outdoors, especially building various buildings on his property, and making crafts and furniture for his family. He loved going to auctions and talking with his friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Oakel Allen Duncan; brothers, Rufus, Kenneth, and Joel Duncan; and grandson, Bradee Cole Davis.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Annette Duncan; daughter, Crystal (Ronnie) Davis; sons, Tim (Cindy) Duncan and Jerry (Jeannie) Duncan; sisters, Ruth and Marie Lawson; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Bill is missed by all who knew him. Rest now, Bill, until we meet by the river. Walk slow, as we won’t be far behind.

DANIEL S. FLETCHER, age 60, of Deboard, KY passed away March 12, 2020. Born August 10, 1959 to Delilah Fletcher and the late John Fletcher. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Denzil Fletcher and Tom Fletcher; sister, Anna Louise Bowen; and stepson, Tommy Horn.

In addition to his mother, Daniel is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Dempsey; stepsons, Buddy Horn and Fred Horn; brothers, Millard Fletcher and John P. Fletcher; sisters, Ernestine Newsome, Geraldine Jennings, and Rebecca Fletcher; and four grandchildren.

Daniel was a member at Richardson Chapel. He will be greatly missed by all.

BOBBIE BRICE FULLER, 86, went Home to be with the Lord March 6, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hiram Patton Fuller, Sr. February 3, 2017; her parents, Thomas H. and Constance Greer Brice; seven sisters and a brother.

She is survived by her daughter, Connie Wardrup and husband, Jay; son, Pat Fuller, Jr. and wife, Julie; sisters, Sue Brice and Jewell Williams; brother, Ted Brice and wife, Joyce; several nieces and nephews.

She was employed by Holston Valley Medical Group from 33 years. She was a loving wife, mother, siter, and a faithful Christian. She was a member of West View Primitive Baptist Church. She had a love for animals and beautiful flowers.

MOLLIE I. GILREATH was born April 24, 1930 and departed this life on November 7, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband, Olen Gilreath; her mother, Nellie Phillips; and her parents, Rebecca Jane and Charlie Arnold.

Left to mourn her loss is a sister-in-law, Hazel Crawford; brother-in-law, J.D. Gilreath; and many nieces and nephews.

Mollie joined Mt. Mitchell Church on March 13, 1954 where she was a faithful member until her passing. Her testimony was always how she loved Jesus and what all he had done for her. She will truly be missed by her family, her church, her friends, and her neighbors. Because of God’s amazing grace, we will see her again.

EDITH MAE WILLIAMS HORNE was born April 25, 1925 and was called to live eternally with Christ Jesus on November 22, 2019 at 94 years of age.

She was the daughter of Henry and Rosa Fields Williams. She was married to Murl Etheridge Horne August 3, 1949. He preceded her in death in 2001. She was also preceded in death by her son, Larry Allen Horne; daughter, Lois Marie Horne Cole; sister, Myrtle Housewright; and brothers, David, Edgar, Dewitt, and H.P. Williams.

She is survived by daughters, Shirley Watson and Linda Mayo, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was saved at an early age at Long Hollow Church and attended there until her death. She always looked forward to attending church services.

Mom’s passing has left a void in our lives, but we will meet again on that that glad reunion day.

ALICE CHARLES LANE, 70, of Church Hill, TN, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at her residence following a lengthy illness. She retired from Eastman after 28 years of service. Alice was a member of Long Hollow Primitive Baptist Church and recently attended Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Matilda Fields Charles; brother, Don Charles; and sister, Glenda Charles.

Alice is survived by her daughter, Alison Osborne and husband, Phil; grandson, Duke Osborne; granddaughter, Laney Osborne; sisters, Tammy Hickman and Tina Conway; brothers, Kenneth Charles and wife Linda, Dennis Charles, David Charles and wife Lisa, Gerald Charles and wife Rita; several nieces, nephews, aunts, and an uncle.

Alice will forever live in our hearts.

RONALD RAY LEONARD, age 66, went home to be with his Savior on January 21, 2020, at Holston Valley Medical Center. Ronnie was a Member, Deacon, Assistant Superintendent, and Trustee of Valley View Primitive Baptist Church. He was a retired employee of Norfolk Southern Railroad.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Theta Sproles Leonard; brother, Bobby; and sisters, Phyllis Hughes and Margaret Jo Leonard.

Survivors include his wife Sandra Leonard of the home; daughter, Connie Leonard Bush and husband Danny; grandchildren, Ryan Bush (Emily) and Jacob Bush; great granddaughter, Livia Bush; sister, Sue Rosenbalm (Bill); brothers, Marvin Leonard (Susie), Chris Leonard (Missy), and Dennis Leonard (Gina); sister-in-law, Mary Emma Leonard; brother-in-law, J.W. Hughes; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Ronnie was a faithful servant of Christ who did not miss church. Ronnie began each year by looking for a miracle and was never disappointed. To say Ronnie was special is an understatement. He is sadly missed by all who loved him.

TRAVIS KEITH LEWIS, age 63, of Xenia, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly and went to be with the Lord June 20, 2020. He was born June 3, 1957 in Bluefield, WV, the son of George and Elizabeth Lewis.

Travis was a loving son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Travis loved the Lord; he dedicated much of his time to the church. He enjoyed music, fishing, and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. He was a Master Carpenter, in which he was gifted with creating many homes and businesses. He remodeled the Lighthouse Baptist Church where he was also a member for a number of years. He was currently a member of Fairview Primitive Baptist Church. He helped in getting children to attend Awanna at the church. Travis was a loving, giving man who would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. Travis was involved in helping the elderly community and would do anything he could in making sure others needs were taken care of. Travis will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Travis was preceded in death by his father, George Lewis; and brother, Roger Lewis.

Travis is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Lewis; sons, Brian (Monica) Lewis and Joshua Lewis; grandchildren, Tara Lewis (Matt Reed), Natasha (Cody) Buck, Brian Lewis (Darian Heath), and Harvey Lewis; great-grandchildren, Bryce Lewis, Callie Buck, Jasper Buck, and Marilyn Heath; siblings, George (Jeanie) Lewis, Lora (Jim) Bennett, Wanda (Ron) Hill, and Elizabeth Valdez; multiple nieces, nephews, cousins; as a host of friends.

RITA FAYE LLOYD, 60, of Church Hill, TN, went to sleep in the arms of Jesus on Monday, September 7, 2020. She was a member of Mt. Mitchell Primitive Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and especially spending time with her family.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Ray Wallen; her husband, Tommy Lloyd; sister, Wanda Simpson; and brothers, J.B., Jimmy, and Jerry Wallen.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth; son, Thomas and wife Katrina; grandchildren, Kinley and Dylan; sister, Brenda Wallen Spears; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Rita was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend to many. We look forward to seeing her again on Heaven’s bright shore.

THOMAS “TOMMY” A. LLOYD, 71, went to be with the Lord on January 28, 2020. He joined Mt. Mitchell Primitive Baptist Church May 29, 1998, where he attended as long as his health permitted. He was a humble man and was always praising and thanking Jesus. He was a disabled veteran, serving in Vietnam in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Reece and Pearl Lloyd; sisters, Reba and Frankie Lloyd and Helen Miller.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Rita Lloyd; son, Thomas R. Lloyd and wife Katrina; daughter, Elizabeth G Lloyd; grandchildren, Kinley Grace Lloyd and Dylan Thomas Lloyd.

A father is the anchor of his family. A child won’t likely find a father in God above unless his earthly father models God’s pure love by what he may say and what he may do. Anchored by faith, Christ being the glue.

DARRELL McPHERSON, 59, of Blackwater, VA, was called to his heavenly home on December 11, 2019 after a battle with cancer.

He is survived by his daughter, Beth Linkous (Mark); sons, Chris and Michael McPherson; nine grandchildren; brothers, Delmer (Ada) and Troy (Brenda) McPherson.

He was saved at Flagpond Church, Blackwater and later joined Burkes Union Primitve Baptist Church.

While he was in the hospital, he told his family he was going home, but not to his earthly home. So sleep on until we meet again.

IRENE CREECH OSBORNE, 96, went home to be with the Lord on November 15, 2019.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of almost 55 years, John Leonard Osborne; her parents, Winfield Scott and Martha Ann Creech; sister, Rose Ella Barrett; and brothers, Lester, Cameron, and Homer Creech.

She is survived by a son a wife, Wayne and Gail Osborne; a daughter and husband, Rev. Jack and Shirley Baker; grandchildren and spouses, Mike and Michele Sell, Eric and Karen Osborne; great-grandchildren, Emily and Haley Osborne and Ashley, Amber, and Alex Sell; sisters, Catherine Nigro and Judy Wellman; brother, Kenneth Creech; and many nieces and nephews.

Irene was saved in her teens at Blackwater Lick Church, later baptized and joined Osborne’s Chapel Church where she served as church clerk and taught Sunday School. She loved singing and sang in a family gospel group with her husband. They sang in many churches and funerals through the years. She worked on the family farm and in clothing manufacturing, and she was her husband’s caregiver for many years. She was an accomplished seamstress and wonderful cook. She also enjoyed crocheting for family and friends, growing beautiful flowers and a vegetable garden. She leaves a legacy of helping others and being an inspiration to many.

God blessed us with a wonderful mom. We miss you, but we have precious memories and know we will meet again on Heaven’s bright shore.

CHRISTOPHER CARLOS PARDUE, 47, of Dayton, passed away April 11, 2020. He was born August 27, 1972 in Chillicothe, OH. He loved his profession as a horse farrier. He was a member of Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church.

He is survived by his sons, Christopher G Pardue, Ian G Pardue, and Devon Hedger; father, Robert C. Williams I; mother, Ella (Jerry) Haggerty; grandmother, Luella Williams; brother, Robert C. (Christie) Williams II; step-brothers, Shane and Jeremy (Alissa) Haggerty; nephew, Robert C. (Britany) Williams III; nieces, Rinna and Emily Williams; step-nephews, Garret, Grant, Kasch, and Kruz Haggerty; step-nieces, Abby and Layla Haggerty; great-nephews, Liam and Milo Williams; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins; and mother of his sons, Sarah Webster.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Geneva Pardue, Doug Williams, and Mac Pardue.

FAYETTE “FAYE” PIGG, age 77, of Bellbrook, passed away Tuesday, February 18th, 2020 in Dayton. She was born October 21st, 1942 in Wheelwright, Kentucky to Sillar (Hall) and John E. "Decker" Johnson.

Faye was a Christ-following, gospel-singing, full-hearted woman of God. She was a loyal member at Fairview Primitive Baptist for 30 years, where she was able to be part of a wonderful community. Faye enjoyed many things, but did everything out of love, whether that was making afghans and quilts, growing beautiful flowers and vegetables, or baking something warm and delicious for everyone to enjoy. You could find her eating one of her favorite snacks; salt water taffy or a banana moon pie, and singing along to Clinging To A Saving Hand by Conway Twitty.

Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Everette Lee Pigg; parents; sister, Betty Jo McKenzie; brothers, Bernard Johnson and Kay Johnson.

She is survived by her son, Billy (Theresa) Pigg; grandchildren, Bobbie Alan, Betsy Marie, and Kolton; great-grandchildren, James, Madison, Brenden, Devon, Makayla, Tyler, Alexis, and Lucas; great-great-grandchildren, CJ and Grayson; siblings, Maynard, Paul, Phyllis Anne, and John Wayne.

BARBARA LUCILLIE (HELTON) ROBINETTE, 82, went home to be with the Lord on August 4, 2020. She was a member of Stone Mountain Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, M.C. Robinette, Jr.; son, David; daughter, Rita Carter; grandson, Mickie Robinette; parents, Barnett and Ida Burton Helton; brother, Kenneth Helton; and sister, Kathy Helton.

She is survived by her daughter, Robin (Tommy) Tipton; sons, Phillip and Mike Robinette; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, six sisters, two brothers, and several nieces and nephews.

She will forever be missed by her family and friends.

BILLY ROBINETTE laid his burdens down August 25, 2020. He fought a good fight and kept his faith. He was a member of Marion Robinette Memorial Primitive Baptist Church where he led singing and taught Sunday School for many years. He taught chemistry and physics in Hawkins County until his retirement in 1989.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Leslie Jo Robinette.

Survivors are his college sweetheart and wife of 61 years, Ruth; daughters, Trine Robinette (Frank Gosnell) and Teresa Martin (Mike); two grandchildren; and a host of friends.

JOHN ROGERS, 80 of Xenia, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Dayton V.A. Hospital Hospice Unit. He was born November 24, 1939 in Clark County, Kentucky, to William Bruce and Sudia Mae (Tipton) Rogers. John served in The United States Army, liked to attend auctions, and enjoyed bluegrass music.

He is survived by his grandchildren, Janna Rogers and Noah Osborne; brothers, Willard Rogers, Larry Rogers (Wanda), Samuel Rogers, and Ricky Rogers; sister, Rena Ayers; and nieces and nephews.

John is preceded in death by his parents; son, John Daniel Rogers; brothers, Duval Rogers, George Rogers, Seburt Rogers, Harold Rogers, and Eugene Rogers; sisters, Mable Rogers, Gracie Townsend, and Rosetta Spencer; and step-mother, Gladys Rogers.

CARL W. SMITH, 83, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 29, 2020, at his home. Born in Scott County, VA, Carl lived in Nickelsville before moving to Kingsport over 60 years ago.

Carl retired in 1993 from Eastman Kodak after 32 years of service. Carl was a Deacon of Willow Chapel Primitive Baptist Church.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Joan Smith; two daughters, Kim Marshall and husband Ted of Kingsport, and Michelle Kirk and husband Shane of Church Hill; son, Carl Smith II of Kingsport; seven grandchildren; and six great-children.

COLLON LEE SMITH, 64, of Kingsport, went to be with Lord on Monday, September 21, 2020 peacefully at his home after a long, hard battle with cancer.

Collon was born and raised in Gate City, VA and moved to Knoxville, TN while pursuing music where he met his wife. They lived in Maryville where they raised their children for 25 years before moving to the Kingsport area. Collon had a great love for the Lord and shined his light for everyone to see, especially through his amazing talent in playing the guitar and his beautiful singing voice. He was a member of Willow Chapel Primitive Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Clara and Carl Smith; and his brother-in-law, Ralph Perkins.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Smith; daughter, Chasiti Chandler (Brent); son, Cory Smith; brothers, Allen Smith (LaDonna) and Tony Smith (Melissa); sister, Kimberly Byrd (Jeffery); and many nieces and nephews.

DON STOKES, 77, was born on August 12, 1942 and departed this life on May 10, 2020. He was a veteran of the United States Army and would often tell of his many experiences while serving his country.

He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Stokes; daughter, Anita Gillenwater; son, Rick Stokes; grandchildren, David Lee Gillenwater, Aaron and Braden Stokes; great-grandchildren, Maylee and Ella Gillenwater.

Don was a dedicated member of Rollers Chapel Church. He loved to open the service by reading scripture and asking for prayer requests. It gave him great joy to be able to work in the church. He battled many health issues, largely from kidney transplants, but Don would use this as a way to witness to people about the Lord’s goodness in his life. Don’s presence is missed among us, but we know he is free from the afflictions of his body, and one day we will meet him on Heaven’s bright shore.

THELMA HURD TANKERSLEY entered eternity February 22, 2020 at the age of 86. She was the true example of a Proverbs 31 woman. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. As long as she was able, she was always seen when the church doors opened. She was the person you always wanted making petitions to her Father for you. She always humbly requested prayer for her family. She was a faithful member of Flower Gap as long as her health permitted.

She left behind four children: Daniel and Jerald Hurd, Patsy Maness and Susie Osborne. Rest easy Mom, until we meet again!!

FRANCIS “WREN” TOMLINSON, born October 31, 1944, passed from earth to Glory on October 6, 2019. She gave her heart to Jesus at age 13 and was very dedicated to Livingston Chapel / Wallens Creek Primitive Baptist Church for 63 years.

She leaves behind to mourn her husband of 54 years, Bill Tomlinson; daughters, Brenda Tomlinson and Donna Williams; son, Will Tomlinson, Jr.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.

Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say rejoice. We will meet you by the shores of eternity, Mom. Until then, we will carry the burden you had for your family to be saved.

RITA CHRISTINE WALLEN went home to be with her Lord and Savior January 16, 2020 at the age of 65 years and 20 days. She was born December 27, 1954 to the late Carson and Maggie Lawson Johnson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Latrina Upman. Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 46 years, Richard Wallen; her loving daughter, Heather Wallen; sister, Patricia Richards and husband Jim; mother-in-law, Gracie Wallen; several nieces and nephews; and a host of close friends and relatives.

She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at the same time as her daughter, Heather, in 1994. She joined West View Primitive Baptist Church where she was a faithful member.

FRANK R. WILLIAMS, SR., age 75, of Hawkins County, TN, went home to be with Jesus Sunday, July 12, 2020 at the U.T. Medical Center, surrounded by his family and friends. Frank was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the Army. He enjoyed carpentry work and restoring old homes. He loved spending time and playing with his grandson, Bentley, who was the apple of his eye.

He is survived by his true love, Mildred Williams; daughters, Frankie R. Manes and husband Joey, Felicia Rhodes, and Natasha Williams; son, Frank R. Williams, Jr. and wife Gwen; his precious grandson, Bentley Williams; special friends, Cindy Roberts and Autumn Jones; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and neighbors.

ELDER WALTER CORDELL WILLIS, 83, of Rogersville. On Monday, May 11, 2020, our father and grandfather slipped form our arms into the arms of his Heavenly Father and of the family waiting for him. Our hearts are broken, but at the same time, we know he is where he longed to be.

Walter was born on November 22, 1936 in Blackwater, VA to the late Peart and Zelma Willis. His family moved to Kyles Ford, TN when Walter was a child. Upon graduating from high school in May 1957, Walker joined the Army and spent time in Germany. Upon returning, he moved to Kingsport, TN, and there he met the love of his life Doris Alice Willis. After their marriage on February 20, 1960, they moved to Kyles Ford, TN.

DORIS ALICE ALLEN WILLIS was born on September 7, 1934 and passed away on March 27, 2019. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Alice gave Walter her full support while he was paster of several churches in the Eastern District Association.

Left to mourn their passing are children, Kimberly Willis Belcher, Susan Willis (Mike) Tweed, and Scott (Karen Byrd) Willis; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and four brothers.

ELDER CHARLES RAY BANKS, 84, of Van Lear, KY, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018.

He was a member and assistant pastor at Richardson Chapel Church.

He is survived by his wife, Rosa Banks; 1 son, Fred Banks; 3 daughters, Sandra Murphy, Velma Banks and Tina McKenzie; 2 brothers, Lloyd Banks and Bobby Banks; 1 sister, Nila Collins; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

JILL BARNETT BARKER, age 58, formerly of Bellbrook, passed away at her home in Miamisburg on Sunday, January 21, 2018. She was born April 30, 1959 to Kate Marcum and Charles Raymond Barnett.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Kate Barnett; 1 brother Thomas; her ex-husband, Randy Barker; and their son, Nathaniel.

Jill is survived by 5 siblings, Doris Critz, Charles, Janice Meredith, Susan Murphy and George; multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her love of family and her keen sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her.

JAMES “JAY” B. BLEDSOE, age 82 of Pennington Gap, VA went home to be with the Lord July 22, 2018 at his home.

He spent most of his life in Lee County and was a member of Low View Church where he attended faithfully until he became unable to go.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Pearl Bledsoe; 1 son, James M. Bledsoe; 3 brothers, Jack, Cecil and Earnest Bledsoe; 2 sisters, Colone Byington and Texil Baldwin.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Bledsoe; 1 son, Calvin and adopted son, Austin Bledsoe; 2 brothers, Roy and Floyd Bledsoe and1 sister, Brenda Lister.

Jay never complained about his pain, although we knew he was in a lot. He is sadly missed by his family and church family, but we know we will meet him again where there is no more pain nor goodbyes.

THELMA “LOUISE” BLEDSOE, age 83 of Woodway, Virginia, was born in Keokee, Virginia, on Thursday, November 1, 1934, and passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, Tennessee. Louise was a homemaker who loved working in her flower gardens and was a member of Valley View Church in Dryden, Virginia.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Ray “Buster” Bledsoe; her parents, Henry and Dora Mae Vanover Herron; 2 sisters, Elsie Gibson and Rosa Gibson; and 2 brothers, Dallas James and Joseph Gibson.

Thelma is survived by one son, Jesse Lee Bledsoe; 2 sisters, Nervie Lee and Lois Collins. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Louise attended church as long as she was physically able, and her desire was to attend long after it was not possible. If members of churches in the association wanted to be in church as Louise did, all of the churches would have fewer empty pews.

KIMBERLY ANN BOWEN was born February 18, 1973 and departed this earth for a better home on November 12, 2017.

She joined Osborne Chapel Church where she attended until her health prevented it.

She left to mourn her passing her mother, husband and son, who was her pride and joy, and a host of other family members and her church family. She told us all she would wait for us on the other side.

MAURINE WARD BROWN, 98, of the Dryden Community, passed away on December 5, 2017 at Lee Health & Rehab Center in Pennington Gap, Virginia. She was born on September 18, 1919, to Charles Sherman Ward and Buna Miller Ward of the Seminary Community. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Clyde Brown; 3 brothers, Buster Ward, Olen Ward, and William Bascomb (Buddy) Ward and 3 sisters, Ellena Ward, Crystelle Willis, and Emily Jo Norton.

Maurine was a member of Valley View Church of Dryden, Virginia.

Maurine is survived by 3 sons, Gary B. Brown, Jerry Brown and Larry Brown; 1 daughter, Carolyn Randolph; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

VIRGINIA GIBSON BROWN passed away January 20, 2018 at the age of 98. She was the daughter of Joseph “Hop” Gibson and Minerva Adams Gibson.

Virginia was a member of Little Cowan Church for 77 years. She taught Sunday School and Bible School and influenced many lives with her kindness and dedication to serving the Lord. She loved to cook and entertain her friends and family in her home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Myrel Brown; 1 son, Stephen; her parents; 2 brothers and 8 sisters.

She is survived by 2 sons, Joe and Randy Brown; 9 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

MAUDIE LAMBERT FIELDS was born on September 10, 1936 and joined our Heavenly Father on August 27, 2018.

Maudie was of the Protestant faith, accepting Jesus Christ as her Savior and being baptized at Livingston's Chapel Church which later became Wallen’s Creek Church. After her marriage to Norman Fields, they attended Mt. Washington Covenant Church. Fields; 2 sons: Harold Fields and Gregory Fields; 1 grandson; 5 sisters, Opal Muncy, Thelma Welch, Doris Burke, Maggie Lawson and Mary Woodard; 4 brothers, Billy J. Lambert, Roy Lambert, Carl Lambert and Harold Dean Lambert; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Maudie was loved by all who knew her. She loved flowers, cooking shows, bird watching, and most of all her family.

MARY ADDIE FISHER, age 82 of Blackwater, VA went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Lee Health and Rehab Center after a brief illness.

She was born in Blackwater, VA on June 4, 1935. She was a member of Osborne Chapel Church and a former member of Blackwater Volunteer Fire Department.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Fisher; her parents, Nathan and Rettie Collingsworth; 3 sisters and 9 brothers.

She is survived by 3 sisters, Alice Shupe, Cleo Smith and Gladys Whittle and several nieces and nephews.

She has gone to her heavenly home where she will have no more pain and we will meet her again.

JUNE L. KAIL, age 88 of Dayton passed away Sunday, June 3, 2018.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lacy Maynard and Warren Kail; her parents, Samuel and Bertha Livingston, and 1 son, Gregory Maynard.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Penny Profitt and Lisa Maynard Brown; step children, Lavita Bosma and Michael Kail; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

She was a member of Fairview Church in Bellbrook until the time of her death.

DANNY CHARLES LAMBERT, 62, of Big Stone Gap, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was a loving husband, father and papaw. He was a member of Cadet Church and a U.S. Army Veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Lambert and Oma Trent; stepfather, Elder Landon Trent; 2 brothers, Tony Lambert and Oliver Lambert; and 2 sisters, Margaret Smith and Mary Ann Spears.

Danny is survived by his wife, Deborah Lambert; 5 sons, Jonathan Lambert, Brandon Thacker, Steve Thacker, Cameron Wells, and Bradley Dickenson; 1 daughter, Tana Collier; several grandchildren and a great grandson; 1 sister, Laura Burton; 1 stepsister, Lois Collier; 4 brothers, Rick Trent, Lanny Trent, David Trent and Tim Trent.

ONEY BLONDE LIVESAY went to be with Jesus on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the age of 88, at Takoma Regional Hospital. She was born April 15, 1929 in Kyles Ford, TN.

She was the youngest of 12 children of Jimmy and Doshie Wallen.

Mrs. Livesay was a member of Willis Chapel Church and attended Hope Community Church until unable to attend. She was a faithful listener of TV evangelist, Dr. Charles Stanley and John Hagee. A homemaker, retired farmer, and an excellent cook, she enjoyed gardening, canning, freezing, sewing, quilting and crocheting.

Mrs. Livesay was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Arnold Albert Livesay; infant son, James Edward Livesay; 4 sisters, Stella Wallen, Cleo Bevins, Bessie Hall and Ruby Eldridge and 7 brothers, Worley, J.D., Earnest, Elmer, John, Harley and Doyle Wallen.

Survivors include 1 son, Waymon Livesay; 1 daughter, Edith Gulley; special nephew and special nieces.

CARL DAVID MARCUM, 62, suddenly entered eternity April 8, 2018. He was saved October 31, 1972, baptized and joined Davis Chapel Church where he remained a member until his death. He attended Big Hurricane Missionary Baptist Church while living in West Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Fern Marcum.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Marsha Marcum; 1 daughter, Bethany Marcum; 1 son, Ben Marcum and his cherished granddaughters; 2 brothers, Bill and Pete; 2 sisters, Phyllis and Rita, as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Carl was a talented musician, singer/songwriter and wood worker. He freely shared his God-given talents with all who would receive. His life was a living testimony to his Savior – Jesus Christ. We should all strive to follow his example.

RICHARD LEON MEADE, 65, of Louisa, KY passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 20, 1953 in Paintsville, KY to the late William and George-Anna Meade.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, George, R.D. and Johnny Meade; 4 sisters, Elizabeth Meade, Becky Murray, Sarah Williamson and Linda Wiley.

He is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Meade; 2 daughters, Nora and Katherine; 3 brothers, Tommy, Jimmy and Willie Meade; 1 sister, Bobbie VanHoose; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

JAMIE NICOLE CHARLES MILLER, age 33, won her battle with cancer on August 20, 2018 by entering into Heaven pain free.

Jamie received the Lord as her Savior at UT Medical Center ER on July 16, 2018 after God showing her that she had not been saved at a young age as she had previously thought. Jamie attended Long Hollow Church when she was younger.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents and several aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jamie Lee Miller; 1 son, Andy Lee Miller; parents, Woodroe and Margie Charles; 1 sister, Jennifer Loggans; several nieces and nephews; her mamaw and several aunts and uncles.

Jamie was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend to many. We look forward to seeing her again on Heaven’s bright shore.

DARRELL CLAY ROBERTS, of Conway, SC, formerly of Cowan, passed away August 17, 2018 at the Conway Medical Center.

Darrell was the son of the late James and Dora Roberts.

He was born July 2, 1958 being 60 years, 1 month and 15 days at the time of his passing.

Darrell was a member of Little Cowan Church and he is survived by his wife, Angie; 1 daughter, Patricia Deatherage; 3 brothers; 2 grandchildren; 3 stepbrothers; 3 stepsisters, along with a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

LESTER ELMER ROBINETTE, age 79, of Xenia, passed away Friday, May 11, 2018.

Lester was born October 9, 1938 to Ardena (Stewart) and Daniel Robinette. He was a retired truck driver for General Motors.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Edith; sisters, Imogene McPherson and Mary Ruth Osborne; brothers, Roy and Marson Robinette.

Lester is survived by his daughters, Ardena Macy and Tina Robinette; 1 son, Michael Cyphers; 1 brother, Joe Robinette; 3 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Lester loved to go camping in places like St. Mary's, Virginia Beach, and Disney. He also loved tinkering around the garage working on cars, lawnmowers and other small engines. Lester will also be remembered for his love of Bluegrass music.

MARY RUTH (WALLEN) ROLLER, born in 1930 in Lee County, VA to the late Null and Pearl Johnson Wallen, went home to heaven on March 11, 2018 at age 87. She had lived in Indianapolis since 1951 and retired after being manager at Roselyn Bakery #3 on the city's south side for more than 25 years.

Mary Ruth professed her faith in Christ when she was 14 years old and was among the 14 people baptized at the June Meeting of Willis Chapel Church in 1945. Mary Ruth remained a member of Willis Chapel throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Calloway Patton Roller, who passed away on July 2, 2001; siblings Jack Wallen, Ova Wallen, Venus Lawson, Ann Manis Addington, Charles Howard, Guy, Bonnie Hurd, and Mitchell.

Mary Ruth is survived by 2 sons, Kerry L. Roller and Tim Roller; 8 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Wanda Osborne; and many nieces and nephews. Joy she brought, joy she has found.

JOYCE SPEARS RUTHERFORD of Big Stone Gap, Virginia passed away Friday, February 2, 2018 at Holston Valley Medical Center. Joyce was a member of Cadet Primitive Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with others at Mountain Empire Older Citizens.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Rutherford; parents Axley and Frances Herron Spears; 1 brother, Axley Spears, Jr. and several nieces and nephews.

Survivors include 1 son, Lawrence Still; 1 daughter, Lynn Still and stepchildren, Linda Ketron, Angela Fleenor, Laura Fultz, Karen Bowser and Charles Rutherford, Jr.; brothers and sisters, Robert Spears, Bill Spears, Larry Spears, Brenda Baker, Judy Cole, Phyllis Hobbs and Debby Ramey. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many family members and friends.

Joyce joined Cadet Church in September, 2014. In her few years with us at Cadet, we grew close to her and loved her very much. She was a kind and giving person. Each Christmas she would give the church family a handmade ornament or craft. Joyce was more than a Sister in Christ, she was our Sister. We will all miss her loving smile.

ELDER RICHARD LEE SEIBER, born November 3, 1935 went home to be with his Lord on May 3, 2018 at the age of 82.

Richard was the son of the late William Hudson and Maratha Seiber.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Vivian Miles Seiber; 1 sister, Doris Sexton; 2 brothers, Benny Seiber and Elder Oatis Seiber.

He leaves to mourn his passing 1 son, William Lawrence Seiber and a host of friends and church family.

Richard was a member of Wallen’s Creek Church and our beloved pastor for 45 years. He was also the pastor of Davis Chapel and Mountain View for a number of years. He is a great loss to us, but a joy for him, so sleep on Richard and rest.

ELDER JOHNNY RAY STAPLETON, 60, of Louisa, KY went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.

Johnny was born October 3, 1957 at Louisa, KY to the late Clarence and Nora Stapleton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Teresa.

Johnny was a retired coal miner and assistant pastor at Richardson Chapel Church.

Survivors include his loving wife, Joyce; 2 daughters, Stephanie Wheeler and Teresa Mae Brooks; 2 sons, Johnny Ray Stapleton, Jr. and Clyde Stapleton; 3 brothers, Clarence, Terry and William Stapleton; 6 sisters Bonnie Meade, Alice Stapleton, Mary Howell, Julie Gilmore Stapleton, Brenda Seidlertz and Nora Dove; 8 grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren.

CAROLYN MARIE STEWART was born June 30, 1963, in Kingsport, Tenn. She died Sunday, April 9, 2017 in Stroud at the age of 53 years.

She is survived by her parents: James Edward and Edith Irene (Hill) Darnell; 3 daughters, Jessica Barrett, Jerri Stewart and Julia Johnston; 1 son, Jesse Stewart; 8 grandchildren; 4 brothers, Wayne Darnell, Dobie Darnell, Mark Darnell and Timmy Darnell; and other relatives and friends.

DANNY G STURGILL went to be with the Lord on March 30, 2018, at the age of 75.

The son of Baxter and Mary Sturgill, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War. He was a retired miner and also a member of the UMWA. Dan enjoyed deer hunting, camping, fishing and most of all spending time with his grandchildren. He never met a stranger and he will certainly be missed by those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Jackie and Norma.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Eula Sturgill; 1 son, Danny; 1 daughter, Missy; 4 grandchildren; 4 brothers, Carson, Ed, Jim and Teddy; 2 sisters, Nadine and Polly.

Dan was a faithful member of Copper Creek Church as long as health permitted. He had a special love for children, and all children were drawn to him for his loving attention and treats he always carried for them. He was a very special person and friend to all, always helping wherever he could.

We know he rests with Jesus, his Savior, and awaits his brothers and sisters on the shores of heaven. Until then, Dan, we will hold you in sweet memories.

THELMA HEAD TATE was born August 27, 1936 and went home to be with the Lord on August 8, 2018 at the age of 81.

She was saved at an early age and joined Shelby Creek Church where she remained faithful member. She served as clerk and treasurer for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ballard and Marcia Head; brothers, Cecil, R.L., Ray, Elder Eckel and Elder Harold Head and 1 sister Dorothy Presley.

She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Don “Tater” Tate; 1 daughter, Tammy Fannon; 2 grandchildren; 1 brother, Elmer “Bob” Head, along with special sister-in-law, brother-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

She was a loving wife, mother, Nana, sis and special friend to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. We’ll see you soon.

MICHAEL "PEANUT" WALLEN was born January 30, 1964 and passed away April 16, 2018 at the age of 54.

Peanut was a member of Poplar Grove Church.

He is survived by his wife, Lori Wallen; father, Calvin Wallen; 2 daughters, Jennifer Wallen and Ashley Wallen and 1 son, Anthony Wallen.

Peanut had health problems for a number of years, but always had a testimony for what God had done for him. His witness was encouraging to all who knew him. He has received the ultimate healing and we know we will see him again.

BEULAH MAE WEBB, 87, of Jenkins, went to sleep in the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, July 18, 2018. She was a devoted member of Edwin Holbrook Memorial Church. Beulah and the Edwin Holbrook Memorial Church Singers sang in many churches and funerals throughout the years.

Beulah was the daughter of the late Boyd and Ellen Holbrook Church. She was the widow of Denver Webb.

Beulah was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Serita Flynn; 3 brothers, Carl, George and Cletis Church; 1 sister, Arbutis "Boots" Antonikowski.

Surviving are: 4 sons, Allen, David, Neal and Chris Webb; 1 daughter, Jennell Johnson; 1 brother, Jerry Church; 2 sisters, Eulas Guy and Sally Kincer; 22 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren, along with a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Beulah will truly be missed by her Church, but our loss is Heaven's gain.

ROSELEE VADA WELLS, age 90, was born on January 18, 1928 in Stonega, VA and passed away July 15, 2018 at Lee Health and Rehab Center with her family by her side.

She was a lifelong resident of Blackwater, VA where she was a member of Osborne's Chapel Church. She dedicated her life to helping others in her profession as a Certified Nurse Aide. She came home on her 80th birthday and told her family that she "thought it was time to retire!"

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit Wells; her parents, Richard H. Evans and Sarah V. Owens Evans; 3 brothers, Cecil Evans, Fred Evans & Paul Evans; 5 sisters, Ethel Owens, Lillian Pridemore, Alice Jessee, Lona Johnson and Cleo Evans; and 1 granddaughter.

RoseLee is survived by her 2 sons, James Richard Evans and Roger Evans; 1 brother, Don Evans and 1 sister, Julie Pierce; 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

JEFFREY CRAIG WITT was born August 28, 1961, in Harlan, Kentucky, and died peacefully November 29, 2017 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC, surrounded by his family after fighting for 6 weeks in ICU following a double lung transplant. Knowing the difficult path of the transplant, Jeff’s Christian attitude was, “I’m a winner either way...if I go or if I stay.”

Jeff was a member of Valley View Church where he served as Deacon. He was the first person to receive salvation in the new building after being relocated due to a four- lane highway being built.

Jeff served in the Army Reserves for 12 years and was a miner operator for 18 and a half years, working for various coal companies throughout Kentucky and Southwest Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his son, Eric Cooper Witt; his father, J.C. Witt; 1 sister, Janice Witt Irvin; and maternal grandparents.

Jeffrey leaves behind his loving wife of 37 years, Mary Middleton Witt; 1 daughter, Megatha Witt Gates; 5 grandchildren; his mother, Geneva Witt; 1 sister, Jennifer Witt Garlic and a host of other family and friends.

JAMES MYRT WORLEY, 90, of Bristol, Scott County, VA passed away on June 5, 2018. He was born on October 14, 1927 in Scott County, a son of the late Jonathan and Kennedy Torbett Worley.

He served in WWII U.S. as a control tower operator and flew twin-engine airplanes for the Army Air Corps.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Myra Avanell Sourbeer Worley; and his second wife, Genevieve Fugate Smith Worley.

He is survived by 1 son, 1 daughter, 1 grandson and 1 brother.

Myrt loved the Lord and was a faithful deacon to two Primitive Baptist Churches and special friend to all who met him. He is greatly missed.
