VERNON D. COX was born April 22, 1923 in Fordtown Community near Gray, TN and departed this life July 5, 2014 to enter his heavenly home at the age of 91 years. He was the son of Dee Cox and Roxie Cox Hamilton, and married Anna Hurd Cox, who all preceded him in death.

Left to mourn our loss is 1 daughter, Janice Chatman; 1 grandson and 1 great grandson.

He was saved and became a member of Fordtown Baptist Church. He later moved his small family to Mt. Carmel, TN in January, 1950. His family attended Mt. Mitchell Church, where he became a member and attended as long as his health permitted. He was a prayer warrior that loved his heavenly father.

He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1943 to 1946. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Our loss is heaven’s gain. He was God’s child and was loaned to us for a little while. Rest and sleep in peace until we meet again on heaven’s bright shore.
