VIRGINIA (GENNIE) TANKERSLEY, age 91 years and 7 months, of Blackwater, VA departed this life February 14, 2013 for her heavenly home.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ballard Tankersley; 2 daughters, Ruth Tankersley and Nora McLain; 3 sons, Ralph, Delmer and Ballard (Jr.) Tankersley; parents, Bigie and Lou Smith; 2 sisters, Una and Birtha Rogers and 2 brothers, Eachel and Emith Smith.

She is survived by 1 daughter, Aubra Hilll; 5 sons, Clarence, Truman, Jerry, Fred, and Daniel Tankersley; 14 grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren; 1 sister, Rena Hurd; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

She was a member of Willis Chapel Church. The Lord gave her a gift and she would be filled with His spirit by shouting His praises and singing. Her favorite song was “I’m Working on the Building for my Lord.”

Mom is sadly missed by her family, but we know she is at rest. Sleep on until we meet again on heaven’s bright shore.
