Sarah Elizabeth Osborne Parsosn

SARAH ELIZABETH OSBORNE PARSONS, Pennington Gap, VA, departed this life July 21, 2012 to join her Lord and Savior and her beloved family. She was born in Blackwater, VA on February 10, 1914 and was a life-long resident of Lee County.

Husband Hayes Parsons, parents Amos and Bessie Moore Osborne, brother J. T. Osborne, sisters Elma Osborne, Gladys O. Huff and Beulah O. Huff predeceased her.

Sarah taught in the Lee County Schools for 42 years. Many of those years were in rural two and three room schools. She finished her career at Keokee Elementary School in 1976. Her former students remember her as loving and kind to all and a tremendous teacher. She was a graduate of Radford College. She had a strong Christian faith and was an active member of Blackwater Lick Church. She joined the church and was baptized in 1935, where she taught Sunday School and served as clerk and treasurer for 20 years.

Four nephews, four nieces and their families whom she loved, cherished and supported as if they were her own survive her.
