JOYCE SPEARS RUTHERFORD of Big Stone Gap, Virginia passed away Friday, February 2, 2018 at Holston Valley Medical Center. Joyce was a member of Cadet Primitive Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with others at Mountain Empire Older Citizens.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Rutherford; parents Axley and Frances Herron Spears; 1 brother, Axley Spears, Jr. and several nieces and nephews.

Survivors include 1 son, Lawrence Still; 1 daughter, Lynn Still and stepchildren, Linda Ketron, Angela Fleenor, Laura Fultz, Karen Bowser and Charles Rutherford, Jr.; brothers and sisters, Robert Spears, Bill Spears, Larry Spears, Brenda Baker, Judy Cole, Phyllis Hobbs and Debby Ramey. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many family members and friends.

Joyce joined Cadet Church in September, 2014. In her few years with us at Cadet, we grew close to her and loved her very much. She was a kind and giving person. Each Christmas she would give the church family a handmade ornament or craft. Joyce was more than a Sister in Christ, she was our Sister. We will all miss her loving smile.
