ELDER SILAS “PORTER” CARROLL, age 77, of Morristown, formerly of Sneedville, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 17, 2020. Born the son of Edna and Silas Carroll, Sr., he was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Diane Gann; and brothers, Barry Carroll and Larry Carroll.

Porter is survived by his loving wife, Wanda. He also leaves behind his dear son, Danny (Heather) Carroll; grandchildren, Hollie Varney and Todd Carroll; great-grandchildren, Hailea Elliott, Haiden Elliott, Connor McClure, Ezabella Carroll, Caiden Carroll, and Addison Carroll; and brothers, Jim (Barbara) Carroll and Mark Carroll.

Elder Carroll was a dedicated and beloved member of Swan Creek Primitive Baptist Church. He served his church with faithfulness and love throughout his lifetime. In addition to his ministry, one of his greatest legacies was his construction of the present church building. Answering the call to preach the Gospel, he was ordained by the Eastern District Association of Primitive Baptists at Swan Creek Church in April 1983. He served at the church’s pastor from 1996-2007. Elder Carroll had many beloved friends, neighbors, and brothers and sisters in Christ, all of whom are blessed by memories of his kindness and his faith. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but his loved ones are assured that he is resting peacefully with the Lord.
