Hiram "Reed" Adkins

November 22, 1939 - September 26, 2022

HIRAM “REED” ADKINS passed away on September 26th, 2022, at the age of 82 at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy Ohio.

Reed Adkins is survived by his sister Thelma (Delmer) Rakes his five children Matt (Bobbi Jo) Adkins Mary (Chuck) Petersimes, Tyler (Cathy) Adkins, Christy (Stephen) Cook, and Carson Payne. As well as his 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; special family Janet Ewing and Violet Arthur, and a host nieces and nephews.

Reed is preceded in death by his wife Naomi Adkins; his parents Matthew Adkins and Esta Bragg; special family Ora and Eva Crabtree; brothers Gordon, Corbin, Thomas, and Wade Adkins, Frank Miller, Albert Collins, and Junior Lovejoy; sister Anna Crabtree.

Reed Adkins was born on November 22, 1939, in Midkiff, West Virginia to Matthew Adkins and Esta Bragg. Reed Adkins was a member of the United States Military until September of 1964 when he was Honorably discharged one year before the United States became involved in Vietnam War. Following his Service in the United States Military, Reed married Rachel Massie on December 11, 1965. Reed worked at the IVEX Corporation until November of 1998 when he retired after 30 years of service, just one year after marrying the love of his life Naomi Robinette.

Reed Adkins was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He devoted his life to the gospel of Jesus Christ and shared his love through his passion of bluegrass music. Reed was inducted into the Ralph and Flo FOP Hall of fame in August of 2002.
