LOLA MURRAY PETERSON fell asleep in Jesus March 14, 2022, at the age of 91. She was born January 7, 1931, to John and Maude Davis Murray. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl G. Peterson, and her sisters: Elizabeth, Margaret, Ruby, and Marie.
She was saved on February 20th and baptized March 10th, 1949. She was a member of Sallie’s Chapel Church. She sang with The Gospel Trio in the early 50’s. She met her late husband at Tennessee Eastman, and they married June 1, 1953. They moved to Duffield, Virginia in 1955 and she moved her membership to Peterson’s Chapel Church where she was a faithful member for 67 years. Lola had the gift of prayer and sang in the choir. She taught Sunday School for several years in the 1970’s. She enjoyed going to church and singing in the group “The Petersons”. She often sang “Time Has Made a Change in Me” and “The Lights of Home”. She spoke of Heaven before she passed away having the desire to see her parents and loved ones and a sister she never met.
She is survived by her children, Michael Peterson and wife Jane, Tonya Peterson Berry and husband Kedric, and Leslie Peterson. She left behind nine grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren who love and miss her very much. Rest my precious mother, we will meet you in the morning by the bright riverside when all sorrow has drifted away.
