RICHARD L WORKMAN, age 86, of Xenia, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Sunday July 31, 2022, at his home with his family by his side. Richard was born on June 6, 1936, in Xenia, Ohio, the son of the late George Marion Workman and Edna Liza (Gregg) Workman. He met the love of his life, Sarah M. (Cook) Workman, while home on leave from the Navy. They were married, June 16, 1959, and to this union were born 7 children.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Sarah M. Workman; his beloved son, Byron Workman; five brothers, Robert, James, Wayne, David, and Roger; three sisters, Patricia Workman, Gwendolyn Workman, and Rose Vanover. Richard is survived by his six loving daughters, Tina Workman, August (Jason) Robinette, Rhonda (James) Johnson, Dianna (Richard) Strickland, Angela Vertrees, and Jeanette (Sean) Callahan; two brothers, Larry (Sera) Workman of Xenia, and Mark (Debbie) Workman of Springfield; three sisters, Wanda Hatfield, Linda Sutton, and Dorothy (Johnny) Hill; 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Richard loved sports and he was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan and a Cleveland Browns fan. Richard proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years. He retired from Morris Bean and Company in Yellow Springs, Ohio after working 40 years. He was a faithful member of the Fairview Primitive Baptist Church in Bellbrook, and member of the VFW Post 2402. Richard enjoyed coaching peewee football and little league baseball in Xenia. He was a member of the Xenia All-Stars Softball Club and he enjoyed basketball, bowling, and golf. He will be greatly missed.
